Please note, we only mail seeds to
Ontario, Québec, New Brunswick, and Nova Scotia,
as these regions share native plants.
Available seeds are shown below, including those without pictures. There are enough seeds in one package to result in 3-15 plants. You can visit our catalogue if you prefer to see them by light and moisture conditions. For a full list of native plants of our region, please consult this list by John M. Gillett and David J. White.
If you have pets that might eat your native plants, we encourage you to conduct research to select non-poisonous plants. Here are some resources that might help:
* North Carolina Extension Gardener
* Guide to Poisonous Plants, Colorado State University
* Plants Toxic to Dogs
Mailing is free but we welcome donations to continue our work. We are a 100% grassroots organization that relies on individuals’ donations. We do not receive grants nor donations from organizations.
You can order as many packets of as many species as you like. However, we ask you to submit just one order in total to minimize our mailing costs. Please include your second choices should your seeds no longer be available when we get to your order. Mailing time will vary according to the volume of requests and our capacity. You will be notified when we mail your order.
Seed cleaning and packing is done by volunteers. If there are no seeds in your packet, please contact us at info@wildflowerseedlibrary.ca and we will mail you new seeds.
Right now is the time to sow your seeds. You can find instructions on our website. If you intend to keep your seeds in storage for more than a few months, we recommend that you let them air dry without any packaging for three months before storing them in your freezer in an airtight container.

Donations (1)
Thank you for your interest in donating to the Ottawa Wildflower Seed Library! Your help will support our vision to inspire communities to build interconnected, ecologically robust native plant habitats – one plant, one person at a time. While we are very well supported by volunteers, we have significant costs in holding plant and seed giveaway events and in postage…
