Volunteering with the Ottawa Wildflower Seed Library is a hands-on way to support biodiversity, help neighbours grow native plants, and strengthen community connections across the city. Whether you have five minutes a week or a few hours a month, there’s a place for you in our network.
 Why volunteer?
Our volunteers make everything possible. They help:
- Share free native wildflower seeds
- Support pollinators and restore habitat
- Participate in community events and workshops
- Make seed envelopes
- Clean, sort, and pack seeds
No experience is needed — just curiosity, kindness, and a love for nature.
How to get started
1. Fill out the Volunteer Interest Survey
This helps us match you with roles that fit your interests, skills, and availability. Survey link.
2. Join our volunteer community spaces
We have two active Facebook Messenger volunteer chats:
- General Volunteer Chat — for updates, questions, and community support
- Volunteer Opportunities Chat — strictly for volunteering opportunities

What volunteers do
We offer a wide range of roles so you can choose what fits your energy, schedule, and interests.

- Seed envelope making

- Big mailout activity – end of December to end of January
